No one can accuse the Wichita City Council of giving Moonwalks for Fun short shift Tuesday. Council members spent most of the morning weighing the facts and the lawyers' arguments, before coming to the sound decision to suspend the inflatables company's city license for 90 days. Council members didn't seem eager to add to the problems of Moonwalks for Fun — which, according to its attorney, has seen its business plummet 98 percent since a 5-year-old died at Pure Entertainment in March. But there needed to be some consequences for its failure to have its rides inspected as required by city ordinance. It was also good to hear City Manager Bob Layton confirm that an updated ordinance is in the works. The city can't make inflatable rides risk-free, but the oversight needs to be better than it was in this tragic case.
