Mostly sunny skies and a high of about 70 will make today a pleasant finale for the work week in the Wichita area, forecasters say.
But rain is expected to move in late tonight and make Saturday soggy – so much so that the Wichita River Festival’s fireworks finale may not happen.
“I'd say the chances are looking a bit grim” for the weather to allow the fireworks show, National Weather Service meteorologist Eric Schminke said.
KWCH meteorologist Ross Janssen told KFDI this morning that there may be only about a 20% chance that the fireworks show will be held because of the rain.
Highs Saturday will be in the mid-60s with periodic rain showers. Sunday morning will see more rain, and the rest of the day should be cloudy. Highs should approach 70.
