WICHITA — The Toys "R" Us store at 8011 E. Kellogg is going to be remodeled to be a combination Toys "R" Us and Babies "R" Us store.
"Combining the two stores under one roof has been part of our business strategy for the past four years," said spokeswoman Katelyn DeRogatis in an e-mailed statement.
The company has 70 of the side-by-side stores nationally and 25 “R” Superstores, which are full-size Toys “R” Us and Babies “R” Us stores in one location.
The concept of combining the toy and baby businesses in one place is similar to Children's Bargain Town, which was Toys "R" Us' predecessor.
"This store format provides an exceptional shopping convenience for time-strapped parents, who are shopping for children of various ages," DeRogatis said.
There are no changes planned for the Babies "R" Us store in west Wichita, which was converted from a Toys "R" Us a few years back.
The east-side changes should be complete by late summer. Toys "R" Us will remain open during the remodeling.
