3:58 p.m. — Where did North’s advantage go? It’s athleticism isn’t being put to use right now. Not like I thought it would be, at least. North plays best when it looks like its out of control – but it really is. They have to up this tempo, can’t play in the halfcourt with a fundamentally sound team like BV West. Right now BV West leads it 27-25 with a minute left in the half.
3:53 p.m. — North is on damage control right now. It’s not making anything on offense and BV West is picking it apart on defense. Out-hustling them pretty much and it’s led to several easy baskets. BV West leads 26-19 and Gary Squires has to get a timeout. We’ll see how the Redskins respond after such a promising start.
3:48 p.m. — It’s back and forth now. BV West took the lead on a three-pointer, then North grabbed it for a second before BV West hit another jumper for the lead. Oh yeah, Spencer Robertson just hit a shot, so now it’s North 18-17 with 6:04 left.
3:44 p.m. — End of the first quarter and North leads 14-12 over BV West. It feels like the Redskins should be leading by more (they led 8-2), but BV West slowly worked back into the game when North became lazy on defense. BV West coach is telling his team to keep passing and get some ball reversal and it’s true. If you make North work on defense, then a good shot is likely waiting for you somewhere.
3:43 p.m. — BV West starting to warm up to this game now. It’s man-to-man defense is actually starting to hold up because of great help defense. And the Jaguars are working the ball around and starting to pick apart the North’s man defense. North still leads 14-10 with under a minute remaining, but BV West looking like it can contend now.
3:41 p.m. — Chekiel Wright is stroking it. He looks a lot more confident in his shot than last time I saw him play against East. He already nailed a three-pointer and just hit a pretty fade-away jumper coming off a screen. North leads 10-4 with 2:47 left. Still no dunks.
