WICHITA — After two years as president and CEO of Sheplers, Mark Syrstad is no longer with the company.
In response to questions about the change, the company issued a statement.
"This change was made by the board of directors in order to make an adjustment in the direction and leadership of the company," the statement says.
Why make an adjustment?
"The board made that determination based on the evaluation," says CFO Jim Ritter.
When pressed, Ritter cites "performance," among other things, as a factor. He won't elaborate, though he says Sheplers is "strong."
So why make the change?
"I did not attend the board meeting. It's confidential," Ritter says. "It may be expectations. It may be other things. You just need to work with the statement you have."
