My vote goes to Kapaun Mount Carmel, even though it lost. I was expecting this game to be fairly close, but I was not expecting Kapaun to be in position to win late in the fourth quarter. Northwest was the unquestionable front-runner for the City League title and the Crusaders took it to the Grizzlies. In fact, if the Crusaders catch one of the three incomplete passes on their second-to-last possession, things might have turned out differently.
I was most disappointed in Southeast. While the loss doesn’t hurt the Buffaloes ‘chances for a league title, it does bring the morale down a little. What bothers me most about the loss is that it seems Dodge City was picking Southeast apart with play-action passes and the Buffaloes’ secondary is supposed to be the strongest part of the defense.
