Sen. Sam Brownback, R-Kan., campaigned in 1996 and 1998 on a promise to serve only two terms. The two Republican congressmen who want to succeed him are making no such promises. "I'm not going to limit myself to a number of terms," Rep. Jerry Moran, R-Hays, told the Hutchinson News. Rep. Todd Tiahrt, R-Goddard, voted for term limits as part of the GOP's Contract With America. "Congressman Tiahrt supports term limits if they apply equally to all members of Congress," Sam Sackett, Tiahrt's communications director, told the newspaper.
