Coaches are a different breed of cat.
As a lot, they are highly driven and willing to put in an inordinate number of hours to make the smallest things happen. While their players sleep in on Saturday, coaches exchange video with another school for the Saturday (and Sunday) afternoon video sessions.
Coaches are meticulous and are focused on outcomes. Look at a practice schedule if you need to know exactly what will be happening at 4:47pm (individual drills, rotating stations at 4:52, 4:57 and 5:02).
Yet these men and women who leave so little to chance are supreme risk-takers. Who else among us wants to base our livelihood on getting a 15-year-old who can't find his Social Studies book to perform precisely on a snap count?
