When I go to events like today’s 2009 Small Business Awards luncheon, I always keep an ear out for a quote of the day (my You Don’t Say feature).
Today, I had three favorite quotes.
Shocker Coach Gregg Marshall was the keynote speaker, and he talked about leadership and explained how he spent years as an assistant coach.
When he made the move to head coach, he said, “I can not describe to you the difference having just moved over 18 inches on that bench.”
And on Wichita’s friendliness, which Marshall likened to Southern hospitality, he said, “I don’t know exactly what you call it here, but it’s genuine and real.”
My favorite quote of the day came from Stu Lungwitz, whose family’s Print Source won business of the year for companies of 26 to 100 employees.
There’s an expression Lungwitz promised employees he’d say if the Print Source actually won, so he was stuck exclaiming it in front of about 275 business people.
“I’m a man of my word,” Lungwitz says, “so I just have to say, Yabba-dabba-doo!”
