A Marion County man on Monday was ordered to serve more than 14 years in prison on two counts of aggravated indecent liberties with a child younger than 14, according to Kansas Attorney General Derek Schmidt.
Kenneth Newell, 47, of Marion, was sentenced to 177 months on the charges, which involved lewd fondling or touching of a 9-year-old in March of 2014. He pleaded guilty last month.
Aggravated indecent liberties with a child younger than 14 is a Jessica’s Law crime, which can draw a life sentence. Newell was sentenced by Marion County District Court Judge Michael Powers, Schmidt said.
