Wichita police are investigating a report of shots fired early Sunday in southeast Wichita.
Shortly before 3 a.m., officers responded to a report of shots fired in the 1800 block of South San Pablo, according to Sgt. Bob Gulliver, spokesman for the Wichita Police Department.
When they arrived in the area, they found two men – an 18-year-old and 20-year-old – who told police they were attempting to retrieve a stolen cellphone they had tracked to the address in southeast Wichita, Gulliver said.
But while they were sitting in their vehicle they were approached by two 25-year-old men who began shooting at them. Their vehicle was struck several times, he said.
The younger men were uninjured.
Police checked the area and found the area where the shooting took place but had not located the suspects.
