A woman told Wichita police that a man armed with a knife told her to get out of her car and leave her 4-month-old baby inside, but she drove off, an official said Saturday.
It happened about 11:15 a.m. Friday near Eighth and Waco, police Sgt. Roger Runft said. A man approached the passenger side of the woman’s car and asked for directions to Wichita State University, Runft said.
She was stopped at an intersection, and the man quickly pulled out a silver pocket knife and told her to get out and leave the child inside, Runft said.
The scared woman drove off, leaving the man in the street.
Police responded but didn’t find anyone; officers citywide have been alerted to the incident, Runft said.
