Police arrested a man who was shooting a flare gun at a mobile home park in the 1000 block of East MacArthur, near Broadway, at 8:30 p.m. Monday.
The 37-year-old, who has mental health issues, had fired multiple flares at his neighbor and his property, Wichita police Officer Charley Davidson said.
When police arrived, they found the man in his neighbor’s yard with both a rifle and the flare gun, and he was shooting the flare gun at his 41-year-old neighbor, the neighbor’s truck and the neighbor’s house.
No one was seriously hurt, Davidson said. But the man’s 75-year-old mother did suffer minor injuries when she intervened and took ammunition from her son and he took it back.
The man was booked into jail on suspicion of aggravated assault, aggravated robbery and domestic battery, Davidson said. Police said the incident stemmed from the man’s mental health issues.
