An Arizona man suspected of firing at a Kansas Highway Patrol trooper in Sherman County on Monday has been arrested in Nebraska.
Richard Lee Gathercole, 39, was arrested by deputies in Dawson County, Neb., late Monday or early Tuesday morning, according to the Sherman County Sheriff’s Office and Trooper Tod Hileman of the highway patrol.
The shooting incident occurred near Goodland, Hileman said in a tweet. The trooper was not injured.
At about 11:30 p.m. Monday night, Sherman County officials said in a Facebook post that the suspect was believed to have stolen two vehicles and was spotted in Nebraska.
