Topeka police are seeking the public’s help in finding a woman who they say was kidnapped on Wednesday morning.
Viviana Vazquez, 33, was “taken against her will” by 38-year-old Pedro Enriquez, a statement posted on the department’s Facebook page said.
Enriquez is Vazquez’s estranged husband, and they got into an argument prior to the kidnapping, Lt. Jennifer Cross said in a video posted Wednesday afternoon.
They were last seen leaving the 1300 block of Southwest Garfield in Topeka in a silver Chrysler PT Cruiser, which has the Kansas tag of 057 JJU.
“Their whereabouts are currently unknown,” Cross said. “We are concerned about Viviana’s welfare,” because she may have suffered injuries in the clash with Enriquez.
“Please do not approach them” if spotted, Cross said. Instead, residents should call 911.
Officers went to Enriquez’s residence to serve a search warrant shortly after 5 p.m. Wednesday when they thought they saw movement inside, a statement released by the department said.
The officers set up a perimeter and asked for assistance. Crisis negotiators came to the location but did not make contact with anyone inside.
A robot was deployed inside and found the residence unoccupied, police said.
