The opening weekend of Riverfest was largely uneventful from a law enforcement perspective, according to Wichita police.
Sgt. Nikki Woodrow said seven arrests were made during the three-day period from when the festival started on Friday through Sunday night.
Three of the arrests were made for fighting while two people were picked up for outstanding warrants, Woodrow said.
One arrest was made for the obstruction of the legal process and one person was arrested for obstruction, criminal trespassing and the alleged battery of a law enforcement officer, though Woodrow said the officer was not injured.
“First responders worked well with Riverfest personnel and the community to disperse the crowds each night,” Woodrow said.
Two shootings that happened over the weekend were unrelated to the festival, Woodrow said. Riverfest continues Monday and runs through Saturday.
