An argument at a north Wichita apartment building escalated into gunfire early Friday morning, police said.
Two 35-year-old women clashed verbally at about 4 a.m. Friday at the Calvary Towers apartment building in the 2600 block of North Grove, Lt. James Espinoza said. One of the women pulled out a handgun and began shooting at the other.
Two other women, ages 19 and 31, were near the intended targets, but none of the women was struck by bullets, Espinoza said. Police have not yet found the suspect in the case.
Calvary Towers was the location of a shootout between men involved in gambling inside a second-floor apartment on Aug. 7. One person was killed and three others wounded in the exchange of gunfire.
Residents of the apartment building have complained about the parking lot becoming a gathering spot for residents of the neighborhood, which sets the stage for clashes resulting in violence.
Records indicate there have been more than 40 police reports made at the property so far this year and nearly 70 more in 2013.
