Woman arrested twice in same day for stealing beer

Wichita police arrested a 42-year-old woman for stealing two cans of beer from QuikTrips not once, but twice, on Wednesday.

Officers were sent to the QT at 3106 E. Pawnee shortly after 2 p.m. Wednesday to assist an EMS crew who had been sent to check on the welfare of a woman who had passed out outside the business, Lt. Steve Kenney said.

When the woman came to she began to resist the EMS crew and officers. They discovered she had just stolen two beers from that convenience store, Kenney said, so she was booked into jail.

A mere 37 minutes after being released from the jail, the woman went to another QT and stole another two cans of beer, Kenney said. A detective who happened to be in the store witnessed the theft and confronted her.

She resisted the detective, biting, kicking and spitting on him, Kenney said. She was booked into jail for a second time on Wednesday night.

She faces five counts of battering law enforcement officers, Kenney said.
