A 19-year-old detention deputy at the Sedgwick County Jail was arrested on suspicion of shoplifting at 9:30 p.m. Tuesday at Wal-Mart, 10600 W. 21st St.
Wichita police issued a notice to appear in court for charges of petit theft. Sheriff Jeff Easter said Wednesday the approximate value of the “variety of items” was $232.
The deputy had been employed at the jail for less than a year, and as of Wednesday morning was not employed anymore, Easter said.
