A Wichita man who was a registered sex offender at the time he committed sexual crimes against a 14-year-old girl was given two life sentences Friday.
Sedgwick County District Judge Bruce Brown handed down the sentences for Gerrian Green, 32, for criminal sodomy and sexual exploitation of a child, District Attorney Marc Bennett said in a news release.
Brown ordered the sentences to be served consecutively and without the possibility of parole. Green was sentenced under the state’s aggravated habitual sex offender law, a Bennett spokesman said.
A documented gang member, Green committed the crimes last June when the girl was visiting his residence in southeast Wichita. At the time, he was on parole by the state and a registered sex offender, Bennett said.
Green has been in and out of prison since 2000 on convictions that included aggravated battery and intimidation of a witness, according to Kansas Department of Corrections records.
He was also convicted of aggravated indecent solicitation of a 12-year-old girl in 2008. She testified at Green’s recent trial that involved the 14-year-old, Bennett said.
