A 35-year-old woman head-butted a police officer as he tried to arrest her and then damaged his patrol car, according to a Wichita police report.

The incident started about 2 p.m. Thursday at a convenience store in the 800 block of South Meridian. A 31-year-old man told police the woman ripped a blinker off his company car, the report said.

When the officer started to take the woman into custody, she smacked him in the head with her head, Lt. Dan East said.

Once inside the patrol car, she ripped the weather stripping off the rear door, the report said.

She was arrested on allegations of battering a law enforcement officer, resisting arrest, willful criminal damage to property and obstructing the legal process, according to a police document. All are misdemeanor offenses, East said.

He said he didn’t know what precipitated the woman allegedly tearing the blinker off the man’s car.

The woman was treated and released at a hospital.
