A Kechi man was charged Friday in federal court in Wichita with distributing child pornography.
Jaime Menchaca, 33, was charged with one count of distributing child pornography and one count of possessing child pornography, according to a news release from U.S. Attorney Barry Grissom’s office. Menchaca allegedly distributed the porn mainly from his computer at work, the release said.
The investigation began in September when agents of Homeland Security Investigations served a search warrant at the residence of a man in Pevely, Mo. They found evidence the man had received child pornography from IP addresses they traced to Highland Dairy in Wichita and Menchaca’s home in Kechi. Menchaca was a manager at the dairy.
Further investigation resulted in a computer forensic analyst on Jan. 11 making a copy of the company computer used by Menchaca. Investigators also obtained a thumb drive from Menchaca that contained images of children as young as 6 years old engaged in sexual acts.
Investigators determined Menchaca had been using the Internet to trade child exploitation materials through a photo-sharing site.
He was arrested Thursday and booked into Sedgwick County Jail, according to jail records.
