A Wichita man on Tuesday was charged with two counts of aggravated indecent liberties for lewdly fondling or touching a 9-year-old child.
Clifford R. McCammon, 60, was booked into Sedgwick County Jail on Friday on suspicion of the crimes, which allegedly occurred sometime between Aug. 27, 2012, and Aug. 26, according to jail and Sedgwick County District Court documents. In a criminal complaint filed Tuesday, he is accused of touching the child “with the intent to arouse or satisfy the sexual desires” of the youth, himself or both.
McCammon is held in lieu of $100,000 bond and is due back in court on Dec. 24 for a preliminary hearing. At his first appearance Tuesday afternoon, McCammon told Sedgwick County District Judge Warren Wilbert that he planned to hire a lawyer rather than apply for a court-appointed attorney.
Aggravated indecent liberties with a child younger than 14 is a Jessica’s law crime, which draws a mandatory minimum prison sentence of life without parole for 25 years upon conviction.
