Robbery follows early-morning knock on door on South Broadway

Two men took cellphones and money from residents of a south Wichita apartment early Monday morning after a woman known to the victims knocked on their door, police said.

A 20-year-old woman knocked on the door in the 1900 block of South Broadway shortly after midnight, Lt. Joe Schroeder said. A man answered the door and two other men rushed in the apartment, Schroeder said.

The two men threatened to hurt the three residents – two men, 26 and 28; and a woman, 28 – with a shotgun and baseball bat, according to a police report.

The men took personal property, including cellphones and money, from the residents and left the area, Schroeder said. There were no injuries.

Police are investigating the association of the 20-year-old woman and the men who entered the apartment.

“All I know is she knocked on the door and they rushed in,” Schroeder said.
