Two men broke into a business on North Broadway early Wednesday, police say, but departed with little, if anything, to show for their considerable efforts.

The two men broke into BD Truck and Gas Shop at 3935 N. Broadway shortly after 4:30 a.m. Wednesday, Lt. Steve Kenney said. They used a large rock to force their way through the front door of the business and then tried to break into an ATM machine.

They failed.

They then tried to break into a floor safe.

They failed again.

They were gone by the time officers arrived, Kenney said. Based on security video, the suspects are a white man in his 30s and a black man in his 20s.

The older man had a medium build with a blue T-shirt, black shorts and a blue stocking cap, Kenney said. The younger man had a thin build and wore a dark blue shirt and dark pants.

The suspects left the area by driving south on Broadway in a tan Chevy Blazer with a maroon roof. Investigators are reviewing security video of the crime, Kenney said.

It’s unclear what, if anything, the men ended up taking, he said.
