A trek to “score some weed” ended badly for a middle-aged man in northeast Wichita on Tuesday night, police said.
The 55-year-old man was driving near 17th and Grove at about 10:45 p.m. Tuesday when he was flagged down by an acquaintance, Lt. Doug Nolte said. The man said they talked about where he could “score some weed,” and the other man agreed to take him to where he could buy the marijuana.
The victim drove to Shadybrook and Green, southeast of 21st and Grove, where his passenger told him to wait. When he returned, he pulled out a gun and demanded the victim’s money and his car, Nolte said.
A brief scuffle broke out before the victim surrendered and the robber took off in his white 1995 Mercury Grand Marquis, with the license plate 484 FAC, Nolte said.
Officers responded quickly to the scene and found a man in the area who told them the suspect tried to talk him into helping rob the victim, but he declined. The third man told police the suspect goes by the street name “T.O.,” Nolte said.
He’s a black male who is 6-feet-3 and 215 pounds, the victim told police. He has black hair and brown eyes and has tattoos on his neck and acne on his face.
Anyone who knows the name or location of the suspect is being asked to call Crime Stoppers at 316-267-2111, Nolte said.
