Police have stepped up patrols of an east Wichita neighborhood after actress Kirstie Alley’s house was vandalized twice last weekend.
It’s the third time since October the actress’s house has been targeted, police records show, and Alley took to Twitter to voice her frustration.
“Dear persons who have broken into Wichita House 4 the 3rd time.. Next time gonna B met with a big dog and an even bigger shotgun.. warned,” she tweeted on Sunday, the day after windows were reported broken in a back door of the house in the 3700 block of East Douglas — east of Hillside and near Clifton Square — on two occasions.
Someone kicked in the back door of the same house in mid-October, Lt. Barry Von Fange said, but nothing was reported stolen in that incident.
Von Fange said he thinks the same person may be responsible for all three incidents — though they may not realize whose house it is.
“Vacant houses often get targeted,” he said. “Her house is well taken care of. She has a caretaker that keeps watch.”
A check of the surrounding area has not revealed a recent crime wave, Von Fange said. But the nature of burglars is they typically keep striking until they get caught.
The cases involving Alley’s house are no different, he said.
“Eventually,” he said, “they’re going to get caught.”
