Two men were charged Wednesday with first-degree murder in a May 31 shooting death outside a west Wichita apartment complex.
A woman who tried to help one of them escape was charged with a felony count of aiding a felon.
Shannondoa Hutchinson, 37, and Patrick Unrein, 34, were charged in the death of John Delgado, 24.
Wichita police said Delgado was shot twice, once in the head, during a drug deal in the parking lot of an apartment complex at 1501 N. West St.
Never miss a local story.
Amy Newell, 33, was charged with aiding Hutchinson's escape.
Wichita police said Hutchinson and Newell left the shooting scene in a red 1996 Mazda pickup.
Police said Unrein also was shot during the incident but was not seriously injured.
Shortly afterward, police asked authorities across Kansas to be on the lookout for the vehicle, and the suspects were arrested June 2 in the Norton County city of Edmond, about 70 miles northwest of Hays.
Police said the arrests came after a woman recognized one of the suspects as they tried to break into a neighbor's house.
Authorities said the pair surrendered without incident to a Kansas Highway Patrol trooper and a Norton County sheriff's deputy.
All three defendants were ordered to return to court June 22 for a preliminary hearing.
