A shooting in south Wichita left one man dead and another seriously injured Monday night.
Wichita police Capt. Troy Livingston said the two men were shot just after 5 p.m. in the 4100 block of South Broadway.
Both were in their late 30s.
Police arrived quickly and found one man in a vehicle, Livingston said. Another man ran across the street to a business to get help after being shot.
Livingston said police were looking for a suspect.
The shooting apparently happened during a transaction at an automotive business, Livingston said.
"In the transaction, something went awry and a disturbance erupted," he said.
One of the men apparently gave a description of a man who shot them to police on the way to the hospital.
Traffic was blocked for hours on Broadway between MacArthur and 47th Street South as police investigated.
"There's a lot of processing that needs to be done and we have to make sure all the evidence is collected," Livingston said.
More details were expected at a police news briefing this morning.
