Detectives said Monday they are delving deeper into why a man and woman left their 7-month-old son alone in their house for at least an hour Friday night.
The child was taken into protective custody and the parents arrested in the 9000 block of West Meadow Park Court after police were notified just before 10:30 p.m. Friday.
A neighbor called 911 after noticing the parents leave and not return for an extended period, said Capt. Jeff Weible of the Exploited and Missing Child Unit.
"It's kind of unusual to see a case where the children are this young," Weible said.
Investigators are trying to determine how long the boy was left alone, he said.
The infant was checked out at a local hospital and found to be in good health. He remains in protective custody, Weible said.
Authorities will present their findings to the Sedgwick County District Attorney's Office, which will then determine which, if any, charges are warranted.
