Law enforcement officers arrested 28 people during a domestic violence warrant sweep in Sedgwick County, the Sheriff's Office said Friday.
The sweep, conducted Thursday, cleared 57 warrants. Some people had multiple warrants.
The sweep, conducted with the help of area police, sheriff's and federal agencies, was part of a nationwide effort to apprehend people with outstanding warrants for domestic violence. National figures are not yet available.
Some people turned themselves in after learning online that they were being sought, said Capt. Greg Pollock of the sheriff's judicial division.
"A number of people have already found warrants they were not aware of and have been able to reconcile their issues by a simple appearance or payment of outstanding fines," Pollock said.
