An 82-year-old Pretty Prairie man was killed Friday when his truck was struck by a passenger car at the intersection of K-14 and K-96 in Reno County, according to a Kansas Highway Patrol crash report.
The Kansas Highway Patrol said Leo Vern Krehbiel had stopped at K-96 as he was driving northbound K-14, but failed to yield to the right of way of oncoming traffic, when a 2011 Ford Fusion that was southbound on K-14 struck the truck. The collision killed Krehbiel, the highway patrol said; the 80-year-old Pretty Prairie woman riding with him was not hurt.
The 44-year-old Wichita woman driving the Fusion was taken to Hutchinson Regional Hospital with possible injuries, the highway patrol said.
The collision happened at 4:50 p.m., according to the report.
