When a North Carolina travel blogger found herself in Wichita, it was only a matter of time before she discovered what she calls “one of the best-kept secrets of the Midwest.”
The blogger, who goes by Liz, said she was in Wichita last summer, but she just now wrote about the “secret” of Wichita.
That secret is no more.
“I can’t figure out why people aren’t shouting the ICT secret from the rooftops, but I refuse to keep it a secret,” she wrote. “Wichita needs to be on everyone’s travel bucket list ... ”
She noticed what many Wichitans already knew.
“You’ll see Wichita flags and icons on clothing, buildings, menus… everywhere,” she wrote. “I’ve never seen such a fierce love and pride for hometown before, and believe me when I tell you it’s contagious.”
Liz loved Wichita so much that she said she bought more souvenirs here than anywhere else – well, except from Disney World, that is.
“You’d think word would have gotten out because Wichitans love their city like nothing else, and they’re not shy about it!” she wrote.
She then went on to provide seven reasons why Wichita needs to be on everyone’s traveling bucket list, including the best public art, many places to shop and all of the great places to dine and drink.
