The American Red Cross is teaming up with local officials and the Kansas State Fire Marshal’s Office for the Home Fire Campaign in Clearwater later this month.
Clearwater Emergency Services began talking to residents on Wednesday to see whether they need smoke alarms, according to a statement released by the Red Cross. Smoke alarms will be installed for those in need on June 24.
The Red Cross launched Home Fire Campaigns nationwide in 2014. The effort featured volunteers, donors and others who canvassed towns and neighborhoods to assess fire safety needs. They then installed new smoke alarms, replaced batteries in existing alarms and helped families create escape plans.
Along with installing fire alarms in Clearwater later this month, participants will share preparedness information with residents, according to the Red Cross.
