Donors to the University of Kansas set a record for giving to KU in the year ending June 30, the university said in a prepared statement. And the $253.2 million that came in was 45 percent more than the $174.2 million donated last year, the university said.

Donors gave to the KU endowment for the university, and to the University of Kansas Hospital, the KU statement said.

The university, because of the donations in the past year, can create seven professorships and 91 new scholarships and fellowships. And it can create or expand new buildings, the KU statement said: Capitol Federal Hall, the DeBruce Center, the Earth, Energy and Environment Center, and the hospital’s Cambridge North project.
