The infant born in the hours after a two-vehicle collision that ultimately claimed her mother’s life last week has died, police said.
Doctors at Wesley Medical Center delivered the baby, who was in her seventh month of development, shortly after the collision late on the night of Aug. 19 at the intersection of Meridian and Esthner in southwest Wichita. Her mother, Trevadawn Pauley, died early the next morning from her injuries.
Pauley, 21, was a passenger in a silver Mercury sedan that was traveling north on Meridian when the driver turned left at Esthner just after 8:30 p.m. on Aug. 19, police have said. The Mercury was struck by a Nissan Pathfinder SUV heading south on Meridian.
Six other people were injured in the collision, including a 17-year-old boy who remains in critical condition at Via Christi Hospital St. Francis.
