Wichita police were at the scene Tuesday night of a two-vehicle accident that injured five people, two seriously, on South Meridian, a block south of Harry, said Sgt. Jesse Boomer.

The five were taken to local hospitals for treatment. A sixth person involved in the crash was not treated for injuries.

Police say they think one vehicle turned in front of another in the 1700 block of South Meridian at about 8:40 p.m.

Police blocked both lanes in an area near Meridian and Merton south of Harry and said they would be investigating the scene for several hours. They encouraged motorists to avoid the area.
