Her 5-year-old daughter is grateful that mommy doesn't have to have any more surgeries, the mother said.
This 34-year-old wife and mother of two has been in and out of the hospital since her baby was born in June. Less than a month after she lost her job, she discovered she was pregnant with her second daughter, who spent three days in the neonatal intensive care unit after her premature birth.
Six weeks later, doctors removed the mother's gallbladder.
Never miss a local story.
She was back in the hospital a week later for another procedure.
In November, she had a hysterectomy.
It has been rough handling medical bills, the family's regular expenses and multiple surgical recoveries, the mother said. Her unemployment benefits end the week of Christmas, so the mother asked Share the Season to help.
"We have been through so much," she wrote in her application. "I have been trying to find a job this time, but (it) has been hard with all my issues this year."
Despite a tough financial year, the mother feels blessed. Her husband of nearly two years recently adopted her older daughter. Family and good friends have helped, too, she said.
"We have been so blessed... with our new baby girl and my husband adopting our oldest, and that all of my health issues are not life-threatening," she wrote. "I have a great husband and two great daughters and just want to keep our house and all."
