A rural Haysville woman died Friday when she was struck by her own car in front of her home.
Sedgwick County sheriff's Lt. Brad Hoch said the accident occurred around noon in the 100 block of West 83rd Street South, which is just south of Haysville.
Hoch said witnesses first reported seeing the woman's car backing up in a tight circle in her front yard. The woman was outside the vehicle, apparently trying to stop it, he said.
After the car suddenly stopped, Hoch said, a neighbor ran to see what happened.
"They rushed over and found her underneath the driver's-side front tire," he said. "She wasn't responsive."
Hoch said investigators were talking to the woman's relatives trying to determine what she was doing before the accident.
He said the woman's name was not being released.
