The 25-year-old man who was arrested last week in connection with the death of a 15-month-old boy has been released from the Sedgwick County Jail.
The man, who is the live-in boyfriend of Evan Coen's mother, was taken into custody on suspicion of child abuse early Oct. 20, several hours after the child was taken to a local hospital.
Doctors advised police that Evan had multiple skull fractures and other injuries that had occurred at different times. He was placed on life support and was pronounced dead Wednesday afternoon.
Detectives presented evidence in the case to the Sedgwick County District Attorney's Office on Monday, but more information is being sought.

State law stipulates that arrested suspects be charged within a reasonable period or be released from jail.
Spokeswoman Georgia Cole said the District Attorney's Office tries to file charges within 48 hours after a judge has set bond in a case.
"Investigations cannot necessarily be completed" within that period, Cole said, "and we need to have all the facts possible" before deciding whether to file charges.
