Investigators will present evidence in the death of a 15-month-old Wichita boy to the Sedgwick County District Attorney's Office on Monday morning, police said.
It will be up to prosecutors to decide what charges could be filed, police Capt. Brent Allred said Friday.
An autopsy was conducted Friday on the boy, Evan Coen, who police think died as a result of abuse, Allred said.
The 25-year-old live-in boyfriend of Evan's mother has been arrested in connection with the case and remained in jail on suspicion of murder and child abuse, records show. His bond stood at $350,000 on Friday.
Meanwhile, a judge in the District Court's juvenile division determined Friday that a 6-year-old boy and a 3-year-old girl who lived at Evan's west-side home will remain in state custody.
The 6-year-old is the son of the boyfriend who has been arrested, and the 3-year-old is Evan's sister.
On Monday night, Evan was taken by ambulance to Wesley Medical Center from his home in the 6500 block of West Renee Court, near Maple and Ridge Road.
He was placed on life support and was pronounced dead Wednesday.
Doctors told police he had suffered skull fractures and other injuries that occurred at different times.
His body was kept on life support after he died so that his organs could be donated.
