The Wesley Children’s Hospital emergency room will get a new look and more beds as the hospital responds to growth in pediatric emergency care.
The pediatric emergency department has grown 30 percent since 2013, according to a news release Tuesday from Wesley. Last year, roughly 26,000 children sought help for everything from sore throats to traumatic injuries.
The $2 million project will add four beds, bringing the number of pediatric emergency room beds to 14. It will also match the pediatric emergency department with the decor in Wesley Children’s Hospital.
Renovations are expected to begin later this summer or fall with construction lasting 12 to 18 months.
