Immediate Medical Care, 4722 W. Kellogg, plans to open a second location in spring 2014 at a former Blockbuster store, said physician-owner Grover Hershberger.
The new location, which will be at 5838 E. Central in Carriage Parkway, is about 6,700 square feet. It will include 12 exam rooms, X-ray and laboratory services. The new location will also add physical therapy.
“We see anything from bumps and bruises to broken bones,” Hershberger said.
Hershberger was an emergency room physician for 15 years before opening the first IMC in 2008. He said most people who come are seen within an hour.
IMC has seen an increase in patient visits over the last few years with about 80 patients on average each day, Hershberger said, which is why he decided to add another location.
There are already plans for a third location next year when Hershberger’s son, who is also a physician, will join the practice after finishing his residency.
The clinic will have extended hours and will be open every day of the week for walk-ins only.
Hershberger said he hopes to have the building ready by the end of March 2014 and will likely hire additional staff for the clinic.
Construction is being done by G.J. Gardner. Architect is Sandy Roberts. Grant Glasgow, Nathan Farha and Troy Farha of NAI Martens handled the deal.
