All Star Sports on West 21st Street has always been in the event business through hosting company picnics and family parties at the property, but now there’s an official event center as well.
“It used to be the old arcade center years and years ago,” says Jennifer Day, event sales director.
If companies came for their employees to play at All Star Sports, they were allowed to use the room for free.
It wasn’t a model venue, though, and it was rarely used.
“It was just in poor condition over there,” Day says.
General manager Stacie White is more blunt, explaining that it had “older upholstered chairs and gross carpet and wallpaper on the walls.”
Now, she says, “It looks really good.”
The renovated space has new floors and restrooms and a new, fully equipped kitchen where only a sink had been before.
The room also has air conditioning and heating.
In the next week or two, audio and visual equipment will be installed.
“Corporate we would love a lot,” Day says of company events. “We’re looking now for more corporate parties, corporate meetings, you know, bigger adventures in it.”
Seated events technically can accommodate 200 people.
“We can do much larger,” White says.
She says as guests filter through for dinner and then go out and play, the space can hold more like 250 or 300 people as seats open.
Guests can have All Star Sports cater the event or can bring in their own food.
“We’ve got different packages,” Day says.
“They can just rent the space or we can pair it with a play package or a catering package,” White says.
“I would say we have the most flexibility,” she says. “We’re kind of open to all kinds of new ideas.”
White says she sees a real need for the room.
“There’s not a lot to rent on the west side.”
