Last month, Wichita Luxury Collection partner Steve Hatchett confirmed the dealership has been approached about a possible sale.
“We’re listening to some folks right now, yeah, but that doesn’t mean squat,” he said.
It sounds like one firm the partners have been “listening to” is Minneapolis-based Walser Automotive Group.
Sources say a deal with the group may be imminent.
Brothers Paul and Andrew Walser aren’t saying that.
“Andrew and I have been in conversation with many dealers in the Midwest, including Wichita, about possible deals,” Paul Walser said in a statement. “At this time we are unable to provide any specific information.”
The Luxury Collection has a number of high-end dealerships near the northwest corner of 13th and Greenwich. They include Acura, Audi, BMW, Jaguar, Land Rover, Lexus, Mini, Porsche and Mercedes-Benz brands.
Walser’s website lists 15 brands, including Buick, Cadillac, Chevrolet, Chrysler, Dodge, GMC, Honda, Hyundai, Jeep, Mazda, Nissan, Ram, Scion, Subaru and Toyota.
It looks like acquiring the Luxury Collection would be a way for the group to get into more luxury lines.
