The Wichita Sports Forum has a new general manager.
Last week, Have You Heard? reported the Sports Forum’s first general manager, Matt Baty, is leaving to become associate athletics director for the Williams Education Fund, marketing and sales at the University of Kansas.
Brian Hargrove, who has been director of events and marketing for the Greater Wichita Area Sports Commission, will replace Baty.
“He’s got a great resume in the sporting community not only locally but on a national level,” Sports Forum partner Tymber Lee says of Hargrove.
Never miss a local story.
“He’s very much an event-driven marketing person that I think is going to be a great fit for the Sports Forum.”
Hargrove has been at the Sports Commission for 11 years. He says he’s been intrigued by the Sports Forum as he’s watched it open.
“It’s an incredible facility,” he says. “It’s one of the best in the Midwest.”
Hargrove says the Sports Forum has “huge potential.”
“I just think the sky’s the limit. I kind of want to be a part of all that.”
Lee says there are probably very few jobs Baty would have left the Sports Forum for, but a position with his alma mater was one of them.
“You hire great people, and great things happen to them,” he says. “We cheer him on.”
