Ki-Yoko Japanese Steakhouse, a restaurant that briefly took the place of Sal’s Japanese Steakhouse, has closed.
Timsah Group, which owns the 5,800-square-foot building on Kellogg just east of Woodlawn, wanted the building back.
The company is looking to put another restaurant in the space.
Sal’s had been in the building for more than two decades. It developed financial issues. According to Timsah Group, the owners left the restaurant and a family member changed the business to Ki-Yoko.
Tuesday was the restaurant’s last day in business. No one with the restaurant could be reached for comment.
In addition to owning the building, Timsah Group owns the contents of the building. It is fully equipped to be another restaurant and is ready to reopen when there’s a new tenant.
