Old Town developer Dave Burk is exploring building on land he owns at the northeast corner of Second and St. Francis.
“There’s nothing definite on it yet,” he says.
His idea is to possibly build office space.
“We have not had really a Class A office building built in downtown in quite a while,” he says. “I think there is a need.”
Pixius Communications is on the northwest corner, Coleman Factory Outlet & Museum is near the southwest corner, and the Rotary Club of Wichita’s park is on the southeast corner.
Burk says he’s researching options.
“We’ve got a couple concepts,” he says. “What we’re trying to do is get commitment from a major tenant.”
Burk says he’ll potentially build around that tenant’s needs and get some smaller tenants, too.
“That’s kind of why we’re in a state of flux now.”
The approximately 65,000-square-foot property could hold a multistory building.
“If we do anything, I’d like it to be 40,000 to 60,000 square feet, depending on the interest,” Burk says. “The driver is being able to get some leases signed.”
