It’s been about a year and a half since QuikTrip acquired Emprise Bank’s property next to its store at 21st and Ridge Road. Now, the convenience store chain is preparing to building there.
“All the permitting’s been done,” says spokesman Mike Thornbrugh.
He says construction will begin in late April.
“It’s going to be a scrape-and-build, obviously,” Thornbrugh says.
Never miss a local story.
The Tulsa chain has had numerous projects in Wichita and elsewhere in which it builds a new store on an existing store’s property. Store closure times generally are minimal.
Thornbrugh doesn’t have a date for when the new store will be ready, but he says once construction starts, new builds typically take about 26 to 28 weeks.
If it seems like it’s been a while since QuikTrip began preparing for this new store, Thornbrugh says there’s a reason.
“We’ve just got so much going on,” he says.
“Right now we’re just so busy everywhere. … Sometimes it just takes time.”
