Springpark Gallery owner George Bair is retiring – again.
Bair, a printmaker, had been an electrical engineer in Dallas when he retired for the first time. He followed his daughter and her family to Wichita eight years ago.
He’s had a studio and gallery, which are in Happiness Plaza at 3555 E. Douglas, since then.
“Then I decided there were some other activities I was more interested in doing,” Bair says. “The gallery kind of tied me down a little bit.”
Never miss a local story.
Travel is a big interest. Bair has two trips planned to Italy this summer.
“It’s crazy, isn’t it?”
He’ll travel to Montreal after that.
Bair is donating some of his equipment and is selling most of his art at half off.
“Big discounts,” he says.
Bair is trying to close the business by the beginning of April.
